Paso Robles is one of California's most pastoral domains. Its name roughly translates to passageway of oaks, and indeed majestic trees mark the landscape. Amongst the rolling hills and native habitat lie manicured vineyards, where ideal soil exists for farming Cabernet Sauvignon. Dry, warm conditions are typical, yet evenings are chilled by a breeze from the pacific just 18 miles to the west, allowing the fruit to ripen into luxurious, at nearly 1,000 feet, soils are elevated sea beds where shell fossils are often found. Cabernet Beaulieu Vineyard 2021 BV Georges de Latour Private Reserve
This is a truly remarkable vintage of our iconic flagship wine. The bouquet is intense with fragrant notes of wild sage, blackcurrant, cedar, and fresh mint. The palate is expansive and full-bodied with a sumptuous mouthfeel, showcasing layers of ripe blackberry, redcurrant, and red rose petal alongside earthier tones of graphite, licorice root, gravely stone, and dark chocolate. Subtle baking spices from the French oak barrel aging provide sandalwood, clove, and Ceylon cinnamon notes, while the signature “Rutherford Dust” tannins are silky, polished, and fine-grained, finishing long with a cocoa powder texture. Slightly reserved upon release but incredibly drinkable, elegant, and pleasing, the tannins provide approachability with beautiful harmony and balance. There is significant presence, depth, and concentration in this Private Reserve, foreshadowing cellar-worthy potential that will continue to evolve, unfold, and develop across the next few decades.
The wine shows caramel and ripe red berry fruits on the nose. The palate is generous and juicy with a plethora of red berries. Strawberry, black cherry, and cassis prevail up front, while kola nut, mocha, and toasted oak support with a mouth-pleasing character and approachability. Medium bodied with soft tannins and a lovely mouthfeel, this Cabernet is very drinkable upon release.

A California Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonanza is produced by Chuck Wagner, owner and winemaker of Caymus Vineyards. It reflects the “bonanza” of the great state of California – the discovery of land where delicious Cabernet can be farmed. Calling back to a time when good wine with dinner was a simple pleasure, Bonanza features flavors of dark berries, vanilla and toasty bread with silky tannins.
A plum purple color with crimson highlights, opening with a serious nose - underlying dark fruits are overlaid with soft leather, cassis, unsweetened chocolate and the subtle scent of smoke drifting from an open grill. Entry on the palate features intense but elegantly smooth tannins, which then recede as ripe berries grab attention. Hints of vanilla and blueberry playfully mingle, leading into a long, dry finish that returns to a serious note, with tannins that are luxuriously fine.
