Each year an unstoppable search for whiskey wonder beckons The Boss Hog to the far corners of the earth... a karmic quest that Knows No Bounds, beginning with Single Barrel Rye.

For this, our eleventh utterance of the mantra, WhistlePig's whiskey makers journey to Rajasthan, India - the Land of Kings - in search of precious spices to forge the world’s first Thandai barrel aged Rye. An alluring elixir served in celebration of victory and creation, Thandai joins the shakti of Straight Rye Whiskey with a floral meditation of saffron, cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg, further enlivened by fennel, poppy and black peppercorn. The result is a splendid wellspring of strength and majesty; a saga befitting the maharajah of Rye.

Oreno, wich takes its name from the river that crosses the estate and the hamiet where the farmhouse is found, is the estate’s flagship wine. Fruit of the blend of Merlot structure and Cabernet Sauvignon class, brought together with the elegance of Petit Verdot, it expresses best the potential of the territory and the Moretti Cuseri family’s idea of wine.

Ruby red with violet hues. Intense and broad aromatics, where notes of succulent red fruits initially emerge and then give way to spicy characters of licorice and roasted coffee. The product of Masi’s unrivalled expertise in the appassimento technique, whereby traditional grapes for the Valpolicella Classica area – Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara – are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months.

Costasera: the slopes which face the sunset are the best ones in Valpolicella Classica for producing a high-quality Amarone. Here, where the day is longer, the vines, which overlook Lake Garda, benefit from the reflection of its light and its milder climate.

Colour: Very dark ruby red.

Nose: Baked fruit, plums and cherries.

Palate: Fruity tastes, with hints of coffee and cocoa. Very well balanced.

  Mark Porembski first became interested in wine years ago while studying poetry and discovering that some restaurants in Boston’s North End were not perfectly strict about the legal drinking age. He moved to California in 2000 to pursue his interest in wine, eventually taking on the position as Winemaker at Anomaly Vineyards. Mark founded Zeitgeist Cellars, a wine label in collaboration with his wife, Jennifer Williams, in 2005. With experience that includes dozens of wineries in Napa and a stint in Hawkes Bay New Zealand, Mark brings conscientious selection and a commitment to simple and thoughtful creation.

Silver Eagle Vineyard rests atop Stoetz Ridge, the land mass that divides the remote Sonoma Coast from the Russian River Valley. This vineyard experiences both the cooling ocean breezes of the nearby Pacific, as well as the warmth of the interior valley.
